Back pain illustrationWhat Is Neuromuscular Therapy?
Neuromuscular Therapy is a hands on soft tissue technique specifically designed to identify and address muscular dysfunction and pain. This effective therapy boosts the body’s ability to recover from prolonged exposure to the stress and strain of overtraining and fatigue, and encourages a restoration of functional normality with focus on deactivating trigger points.

Principals of neuromuscular therapy:

  • Ischemia: Lack of blood supply to soft tissues which causes hypersensitivity to touch
  • Trigger Points: Highly irritated points in muscles which refer pain to other parts of the body
  • Nerve Compression or Entrapment: Pressure on a nerve by soft tissue, cartilage or bone
  • Postural Distortion: Imbalance of the muscular system resulting from the movement of the body off the longitudinal and horizontal planes
  • Biomechanical Dysfunction: Imbalance of the musculoskeletal system resulting in faulty movement patterns

The aims of neuromuscular therapy:

  • Prepares the body for other therapeutic methods, such as manipulation and exercise
  • It locates and release spasms and hyper contradiction in the tissues
  • It eliminates trigger points that causes referred pain
  • Rebuilds injured tissues
  • Relaxes tense muscular tissues
  • Restores function to the body
  • Improves posture
